4th Annual Carol Stream Town Hall Meeting

Carol Stream residents are invited to attend the 4th Annual Carol Stream Town Hall Meeting so that they can raise questions for the leaders of the government entities in our community. Since so many residents have expressed their anger and outrage at the recent actions by the Library Board at Board meetings and through comments and letters in the Daily Herald, this event will be a great opportunity to ask Board President Michael Wade to explain his actions. As noted below, even if you cannot attend the meeting in person, you can submit questions by e-mail or phone. Here are the details:

Join us on Wednesday, August 29!

Our organization is growing, and we are very pleased at the positive response we have received by so many members of the community. It is more clear to us than ever that a large number of residents are outraged and angered by the unjustified firing of the Library Director and the "new direction" that the current majority of the Board is taking our library. Many people have already told us that they are interested in helping our mission of getting competent and motivated people elected to the Board next April to replace those who do not have the best interests of the library or the community in mind.

The next meeting of the "Support the Library" organization will be held next week, and we invite all interested people to join us to discuss candidates and strategies for winning the elections next April. Here are the meeting details:

Date: Wednesday, August 29
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Heritage Presbyterian Church
Address: 965 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream

If you know of other residents who share our concerns about the actions or the philosophies of the current Board, please send them a link to this web site and encourage them to sign up on our mailing list so that they can receive updates about the work of this organization. Just click the "Get Involved" tab at the top of the screen to read more about the goals of this organization and to sign up by using our online form.

Organizational Planning Meeting

As the interest in electing new trustees for the Carol Stream Library Board continues to grow in the wake of the unjustified firing of a respected and effective Library Director, a group of concerned citizens have scheduled an organizational planning meeting to discuss the issues as well as strategies for selecting and supporting a slate of candidates for the general consolidated election next April. Here are the details for the meeting that will be held in a church building conveniently located right across the street from Glenbard North High School:

Date: Thursday, August 16
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Heritage Presbyterian Church
Address: 965 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream

The planning committee is seeking people who are interested in volunteering their efforts to help elect trustees who are committed to serving the residents of Carol Stream to replace current trustees who have shown themselves to be irresponsible and unethical. The committee needs motivated residents who can help the cause by distributing campaign materials, hosting neighborhood meetings, writing letters to local newspapers, raising funds for the candidates, and helping with many other tasks that may be required in the months ahead.

Please plan to join us for this planning meeting and pass along a link for this web site to any other interested residents who may also be interested in electing candidates who truly support the services that are provided by the Carol Stream Public Library.
